The LACCD
Van de Kamp International Education and Workforce Development
Innovation Center is the district's effort to offer a wide
variety of globally-focused education and career-readiness
services, which supports the strategies of
LACCD
colleges.
In collaboration with the region's economic and workforce
development systems, this campus was initially created to
leverage
the region's service models in order to allow a centrally-located
service mechanism to operate and serve the local community.
The campus will utilize the latest forms of synchronous and
asynchronous technologies in order to meet the educational
needs of the entire district, its colleges and students, local
entrepreneurs, and related public/private partnerships.
Classes range from affordable short-term training workshops
to Grant-Funded skill development programs that align with
industry-driven trends. Targeted service emphases range from
local community professional development to the expansion
of frontline worker skills. The center offers high-tech and
virtual classroom environments that compliment educational
models throughout the Los Angeles region.

The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of
2006 is designed to more fully develop the academic, vocational
and technical skills of secondary and postsecondary students
who elect to enroll in vocational and technical education
programs. It builds on the efforts of states and localities
to develop challenging academic and technical standards.
It also assists students in meeting the standards, including
preparation for high-skill, high-wage or high-demand occupations
in current or emerging professions. Click
